Brentwood House

When one has surrendered their resistance to the recovery process, life in the cloister of treatment can be a wonderful and peaceful experience. A newfound, confident sense of getting back on life’s path can be inspired there. Yet, the departure from the comforting confines of treatment can be an intimidating experience for even the most secure client trying to transition to a new life without the tortures of their active addiction.

THE  BRENTWOOD HOUSE, located in the quaint and peaceful, Brentwood section of Los Angeles; affords the transitioning client a safe, clean atmosphere to settle into their own rhythm of a chemically-free lifestyle. The Brentwood House is located in a unique area of Los Angeles where day and evening 12 Step Meetings are accessible by a ten minute walk, everyday of the week. So, there are NO EXCUSES as to why one cannot “make a meeting”! No car? No problem. We walk!

Under the supportive and watchful eye of house manager Joe Shaughnessy, The Brentwood House adds the structure and boundaries to a client’s transition to a new life of recovery, without the burden of micro-managing the process. Clients are encouraged to stretch out their new found freedom by either working, or going back to school, and attending 12 Step Meetings on a regular basis.

Mr. Shaughnessy, an active member of a 12 Step Program for over 28 years, adds a wealth of experience to support the new clients unsure footing (decision making) on the path into this brave new world. “I am not up for clients lying around watching the television” he says. “Faith without works is dead. So too, is recovery”.
